Title: Emergent Global Symmetries in Holography for Swamplanders

Abstract: We discuss interrelations between the Swampland/Landscape program and ensemble averaging in holography. While exact global symmetries are believed to be forbidden in quantum gravity, this is not the case when we consider ensemble averages in holography. We study this problem in ensemble averages of generalized Narain-type theories associated with a general even quadratic form and their holographic duals. We find that the ensemble-averaging procedure "folds" T-dualities of the Narain-type theories into emergent global symmetries. We discuss the connections between emergent global symmetries, the swampland distance conjecture, and the mathematics of spectral decompositions.
