To work with me as a student

物理/数学について質問のある方は、まずメールしてください。こちらの時間の空き具合に応じて返事をします。以下は手続き上の件です。If you have questions on physics or math, you can always email me. I will reply to you when I have the time to do so. The rest of this page is about bureaucratic points. (originally created on 2023/9/28; last updated on 2023/10/5)

If you do not read and write Japanese:

To be a graduate student under me, you basically need to go through have to go through the pre-selection process described here. This is for a combined master + PhD course for about 5 years. Available scholarships are described here.

In particular, I am not taking students via the program called Embassy Recommended Scholar.

There are acutally many more distinct international admission processes as summarized here in the same link as above. But participating in all requires too much time from me. In addition, it is very difficult to maintain an equal set of selection criteria across multiple methods. These are the two main reasons why I only participate in some of the admission processes. I would like to ask you for your understanding.

I am not taking students with master's degrees for the PhD course at this point either, due to bureaucratic issues.

I am not accepting any summer interns, due to lack of time. Our Faculty of Science has an official summer intern program UTRIP, which you can apply if you are interested.

I am not going to advise students affiliated to other universities for any extended period of time, unless I have a formal agreement with your university and your adviser. I just do not have the time to advise such additional students in a responsible manner.

That said, I am happy to answer your questions on my papers and/or my review articles via email.
