Anomalies and topological phases / 物理学特別講義BII (2019)

Place and time

13:00-14:45, Thursdays; Kashiwa campus, IPMU, Balcony B.

Broadcasted also to Hongo campus: Building 1, usually in Room 207; Room 206 only on Nov. 28

Lectures will be done practically as a regular course. But from the bureaucratic perspective it is done as an "intensive course (集中講義)". The reason is that each regular course is supposed to be given every year, possibly by different lecturers, and that adding a regular course to the curriculum takes a number of faculty meetings. There are no such bureaucratic restriction on "intensive courses", to the extent that they don't have to be given intensively.

Overview

We discuss anomalies and symmetry protected topological phases. It is mostly based on my lectures at TASI earlier this year which was in turn based on my lectures at CERN and Rikkyo in 2018. I'm not sure if I'm going to write up the lecture notes.

Plan

For the first several lectures I would just follow my handwritten notes for the lectures at TASI. I'll think about what to talk after I go through all of them.
